Damorah Kalli-enté

Growing up in a family where music was the mainstay, Damorah followed suit with her family in the love of music. She was selected to sing her first solo at the age of 4 for a major Christmas cantata production. Her grandfather presented her with an organ on her fifth Christmas and complimentary organ lessons to follow.
As these fires were lit, music became her passion. She followed in the family tradition of playing trumpet and played for her high school band and the local community orchestra where she held first chair. Additionally, Damorah sang in many choirs and chorales throughout the city, and during her teenage years she traveled up and down the eastern seaboard singing with the B.T. Howard Memorial Choir. In this choir, her talent came forward and blossomed into arranging and directing arrangements as well as performing solos. She became known as the “little soprano with the big voice.”
Damorah evolved into singing with her uncle’s band, Unique Soul. This band was a blend of R&B, funk, and blues, and contributed heavily to her unique vocal style. Damorah went on to attend James Madison University in Virginia, where she majored in dance. She auditioned for and was accepted into the University’s Gospel Choir, where she continued with music as a soloist.
Damorah later joined the U.S. Air Force; before long, she was singing for retirement and Change of Command ceremonies, Wing Birthday Balls, and other official functions. She began stints with the AF European Showcase production, touring throughout Europe, and eventually joined the Air Force Tops in Blue program. While in the Air Force, she met the conductor for the nationally-known orchestra Mannheim Steamroller, Mr. Chuck Pennington. He was so pleased with her passion for music, he immediately put her to work. She began singing background vocals for various artists during their recording sessions, and became part of a trio known as The Pageant Sisters, whose music showcased songs from the 1930s and 1940s.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, Damorah went back to school to pursue a passion for interior design, and began a second career. She has sung with illustrious groups in the Midwest, most recently The Confidentials. Not being satisfied with only singing, Damorah answered the call of her heart to put together a group where she could pursue and explore more of her artistic soul and talents. Not long after deciding to pursue the dream of beginning her own music group, she met her now business partner, Doc James, and the two found strength together in forming The Doc James Band featuring Honey. The rest is in their future, so don’t miss out if she is in your area. You will agree, she has WOW! factor.
